Support group: LGBTQ with experience of IPV-Stockholm
We are pleased to announce that our Stockholm-based support group will be in English this fall! The group is specifically for women, transgender, and non-binary individuals with experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV), and it will begin in late October or early November.
Fempowerment’s support groups provide an opportunity to process your experiences alongside others with similar backgrounds, gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of IPV, and empower both yourself and your peers.
The support group consists of seven sessions, held once a week in the evening, facilitated by Fempowerment’s counsellors who possess extensive psychosocial expertise and LGBTQI+ competence. Each session lasts two hours, with a coffee break, and begins with an introduction to a new topic. Topics include various forms of IPV, minority stress, self-care, sexual health, and sexuality.
The group aims to create a safer space where participants can share their experiences and process them together with others who have faced similar situations. It is a space where you will be believed and listened to without judgment. By sharing and listening, participants can build a sense of community, reducing feelings of isolation. Additionally, participants will gain valuable insights into domestic violence and its dynamics, offering new perspectives and a deeper understanding of its impacts
The support group will take place at our office in Stockholm and participation is completely free of charge.
